we rode all day and all
night it was crowded there
was always noise and falling
asleep weeks passed and weeks
lay ahead somehow it seemed
the train was slowing outside
the window tumbleweeds were
turning the train was halting
beside the scrub the train
stopped in the sand the end
the conductor said the end
of the line it was the middle
of nowhere my ticket I said
my ticket goes through to
read your ticket he sighed he
had been through this all
this before and nothing I saw
nothing written on my ticket
I wanted to protest I wanted
more I wanted he said it’s
over I shook my fist he
shook his head I cried
what does this mean nothing
on my ticket he said nothing
but it’s over it’s over it’s
all oh please not here not
this he stared at me it’s
over there was spinning it’s
over inside something broke
inside it’s over it’s over it’s oh
I thought oh then this must be
the place but no yes it’s and
there could be no other I
saw and stepped with the others
laughing off the train and
into the night
