Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Our Gestalt Basic Training Program was established in 1975 and is based on the belief that a person most completely learns Gestalt by being part of its experiential workshop process.
The Basic Training is open to everyone for personal and/or professional skill development. No college degrees or prior knowledge of Gestalt is required to attend this program in whole or part. We invite you to participate.
Individuals can explore their personal issues during workshops and therapists enrolled in the program can increase their proficiency by resolving their own internal dilemmas and struggles first.
In addition to Gestalt, the Basic Training includes workshops in NLP, Group Process, Child Within, Transactional Analysis, Body Work, ACOA, Addiction issues, and our own unique The Psychogenetic System™ Couple, Parenting and Family Counseling.
The Gestalt Institute of New Orleans/New York offers a Basic Gestalt certificate upon completion of 200 hours training, 15 hours of community mental health volunteer service, together with a verbal presentation of a 12 page written thesis in a workshop or training meeting.
Training credits are accrued on an hour-per-hour basis. One weekend workshop, or theory class or one training meeting is scheduled per month. We also offer a 100 hour The Psychogenetic System™ Coaching Certificate which specializes in Couple, Parenting & Family Counseling.
Our Basic Gestalt Training Program is designed to allow you to participate at your own level of involvement. You may attend as many workshops as your schedule permits, and you may take up to two years to complete the 200 hour diploma requirement. You may enroll at any workshop without pursuing the basic diploma. The workshops informal, educational and fun.
If you choose, you may supplement your training with up to 10 hours of correspondence course work via video, written and book assignments.
